I read this biography partly in homage to my Lutheran background and the 500th anniversary of the reformation in 2017 – or at least of the nailing of his 95 theses to the door of the Wittenburg Cathedral in that year. Martin Luther was a brave man, prepared to challenge the teachings and practises of the church of his day, and risk his life rather than compromise with the corrupt hierarchy of the catholic church of his day. A good example today for not only leaders in the church, but in all walks of society.
